What Causes Sore And Sensitive Gums Post Dental Filling?

default
Posted on Mon, 25 May 2015
Question: i recently had a dentist replace two old fillings. I had never had gum disease of any kind previously. It's been 2 weeks and now all my gums are sore and extremely sensitive. Also, the gland on my neck is swollen on one side. What does this mean?

Brief Answer:
over hanging restoration, gum infection, rerestoration, scaling

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your query I have gone through your query.

As far as the gum sensitivity (infection) following restoration is concerned, it can be because of the overhanging restoration (excess filling in between teeth). The other possible cause can be because of the deposits. Nothing to be panic, consult a oral physician and get it evaluated. You need to take a radiograph to confirm the diagnosis.

If it is a overhanging restoration, the restoration has to be repeated. If it is because of the deposits then you need to get a scaling done.

These are the possible causes, diagnosis and treatment plan based on the description of the problem by yourself. If you can upload the images of the gums and teeth I can give you exact diagnosis and treatment plan.

I hope I have answered your query. Take care.
