Posted on Mon, 23 Feb 2015
Question: I've had some small pustule type bumps about mid way up the right side of my penis, and slightly bigger bumps at the base of the shaft..not sure if they are rash, or irritation due to my work environment ? never had problems in the past same job for 5 years now. bumps do not hurt or appear red in anyway.

Brief Answer:
No, not due to work environment, it is Lichen nitidus

Detailed Answer:
Hi, Welcome to HCM,
At first impression it looks like Lichen nitidus. It is a chronic inflammatory lesion, its cause is unknown. It is 1-2 mm shiny, flesh colored, uniform and discrete papules.
Chronic rubbing may increase the number of lesion at it has koebnerization(lesion appear at trauma site).
Histopathology of the lesion confirms the diagnosis.
Usually lichen nitidus is asymptomatic and self limiting - no treatment is required.
If your lesion is progressive you can apply corticosteroid cream to limit the progress of disease.
Hope this will help you.
Thanks

thanks doctor! so this should not be contagious by any means right? would it help if I ceased having intercourse, and masterbation for an extended period of time? will quit both cold turkey if that's what it takes to clear this up! thanks in advance.

Brief Answer:
No, not contagious

Detailed Answer:
Hi, welcome again,
No, this is not contagious by any means.
Yes, avoidance of masturbation will definitely help in faster clearance, as i have already told you that it has koebnerization (new lesion can appear at trauma site.
Sexual intercourse with foreplay (after proper lubrication of vagina) won't affect more, if you can avoid it, it will be more better.
Thanks
