What Causes Shooting Pains On The Outer Right Side Of My Knee?

default
Posted on Tue, 17 Mar 2015
Question: I was sitting down and all of a sudden I had three shooting pains on the outer right side of my knee. It happened so quickly and now it is okay. I put Biofreeze on the area of the knee and took a tylenol. What could this be from? I had slightly bumped my knee 4 hours ago on the dryer but my knee was fine.

Brief Answer:
It is most probably a muscular pain

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I studied your case. I believe that it is most probably a muscular pain. When you hit your knee you have injured some tissue round knee joint. Since it was not a bad injury so you did not feel much pain immediately.
I would suggest you following.
1. Apply ice to knee if there is any redness or swelling.
2. Volitran ointment can also help.
3. Avoid standing or moving your knee too much.
4. Also take Brufen if pain is very bad.
I hope your pain will not reoccur. If your pain reoccurs than you might need a x ray.
I hope this answer will be useful for you.Let me know if there is any other followup questions.
Thanks
