What Causes Sharp Stomach And Back Pain In Older Adults?

Question: My 68 year old best friend died Monday. She called 911 at 7:30a Monday and was dead by 9:30a. She had been telling 4 doctors she had stomach and back pain for a long time. The took a CT scan of her abdomen/pelvis. It was normal. She did have IBS but it was under control. When she first go to the hospital, she asked to go to the bathroom, that she had to go right away and that it was already coming out. While on the toilet she had such a large BM, it filled to the top of the toilet. When she was done, she passed out on the toilet and fell over, hitting her head on the sink. When she fell on the floor, the doctor gave her oxygen, but it did not good. She had no pulse and her heart had stopped. My husband thinks that when she hit her head on the sink, she died because of the blow. What do you think. This may be important, she took Lotrimen for almost 2 years for her IBS which I just found out was an experimental drug. I just need someone's opinion so I can put this to rest. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Possible cardiac issues, not from IBS...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I am sorry for the loss of your friend.

Her pain to my opinion might have been related to cardiac problems like angina or heart attack.

She had the need to pass the motion because she was at her end. However, the hit on the sink might have precipitated her death.

I need to have her medical records for a more specific opinion.

All the best!
