What Causes Sharp Pain In The Chest While Drinking Water?

default
Posted on Mon, 5 Dec 2016
Question: For the last week, I have felt totally exhausted and just plain don't feel good. The main thing is that whenever I drink water I get a sharp pain in my chest. At night when I lay down, I can feel it even when I just swallow. It doesn't seem to bother me when I eat, just drink.

Brief Answer:
I will suggest you monitor only for now!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Am sorry to hear about this pain. It has certainly not been the best but could have been provoked by the excessive coughing that you reported. However, it is a bit strange why this only happens with liquids and not solids. Because this seems selective for substance type, it doesn't depict a clear underlying disease condition. I will like to monitor this a little longer to obtain more details for well meaningful suggestions. My honest hope is that resolution would be spontaneous without the need for any specific medical intervention.

In all, monitor only and I anticipate a spontaneous resolution in the interim.

I wish you well and please do update me as soon as something else comes up like worsening pain, with solids, etc. or you get better.
