What Causes Severely Itchy And Oozing Sore On The Back And Limbs?

default
Posted on Tue, 6 Sep 2016
Question: My wife, 70 yrs old and in good health, has suffered for many weeks with very itchy sores all over her back, arms and legs. Doctors have not found a cause so far - it has been a month or two, and she is bleeding on clothes, miserable and not "herself". She has an appointment in a couple of weeks, but she needs help NOW - she is depressed and crying a lot. What can we do?

Brief Answer:
Primary skin dermatoses eg erythroderma suspected, consult dermatologist

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query on Health Care Magic.

Itchy sores all over the body indicates a skin dermatoses.

Bleeding from these sores is alarming.

Bleeding can complicate the primary skin disease by due to loss of fluids and electrolytes from body.
The primary skin lesion can be a serious skin condition called eryhthroderma.

I suggest you to consult your primary healthcare provider for primary care.

Thereafter after bleeding stops, you need to consult a dermatologist for clinical assessment, investigations and definitive diagnosis.

Thanks and take care
