What Causes Severe Right-sided Lower Back Pain?

default
Posted on Thu, 26 May 2016
Question: I'm having a really bad pain in my lower back right where the butt crack starts more on the right side. If i put pressure on that area it hurts so bad. I can't sleep on my back without it hurting. I also can't sit without being in pain. I haven't done any physical activities to strain it. I looked in the mirror and i saw a red line in my butt crack but there wasn't any sign of bumps or blood.

Brief Answer:
Coccydynia, needs medication, exercises and Heat therapy

Detailed Answer:
Hi there.

This could be Coccydynia.

I advise you to sit on foam doughnut shaped cushion. Continue hot fomentation to the painful regions.

Sit into a tub of warm water with added salt twice a day for 15 minutes at a time.

Eat plenty of fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables to prevent constipation. Drink 2 litres of water daily.

You can take Tablet Diclofenac 75mg twice a day for 5 days after meals and Tablet Ranitidine 150mg twice a day for 5 days before meals.

Avoid sitting for more than 20 minutes at a time, do get up and walk around and do back stretching exercises.

Do follow up with me on your progress.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.

Is this something where I should see a doctor if they pain doesn't go away soon? Because I'm going on day 6 and the pain hasn't gotten any better. Also, the medicine that you recommended, is it over the counter? I'm pretty sure I don't have health insurance.
