default
Posted on Wed, 1 Oct 2014
Question: My daughter, who is 28 is having severe pains in her lower abdomen just below the navel and a bit the left. She says it is a stabbing pain that comes and goes. On a scale of 1-10, it goes to a eight or nine. It is taking her strenght and it makes her weak. Went to the ER, all labs were normal, urinalysis was a little off with trace bacteria, few WBC, RBC. trace protein. What should we do next?

Brief Answer:
Get Ultrasound scan

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Greeting from Dr.Divakara

Thanks for posting your query.

Abdominal pain at the site mentioned could be due to infection in the gut, menstrual cramps, pelvic inflammatory disease, urine infections or kidney stones .
Her urine analysis is slightly pointing towards urine infection or kidney stones which has to be confirmed with other tests.
I advise to get Ultrasound abdomen pelvis scan and an Urine culture sensitivity test done and revert back with reports .

Till then she can use anti spasmodic medication for symptomatic relief .Ask your doctor for prescription.

Any clarifications feel free to ask .
Happy to help.
