Brief Answer:
Consideration

Detailed Answer:
hello and thank you for sending the question.

I am sorry that you're having significant pain related to gout. A couple of things you can do until you see a physician at this time include: aggressive hydration with plenty of water. This will hopefully help to flush some of the uric acid out of your system.

You can also take anti-inflammatory medication such as ibuprofen up to 800 mg every eight hours.

However, if your pain is severe I would recommend that you go to your local emergency room or urgent care clinic where they could provide you a prescription for prednisone. The prednisone will help to relieve your symptoms within hours.

hydration and ibuprofen might provide some degree of temporary relief but I really think a prescription medication is what you need to achieve total control of your symptoms.

Thank you again for sending the question.

Sincerely,

Dr. Galamaga
