What Causes Severe Pain In Right Shoulder Blade?

Question: Dr. Meriton Siqeca

I got your response. Thanks. However; the "thrust" of my inquiry, related to my previous experience of "mid-scapulae pain" on August 23,2004; in New York City - while I was in an ER of hospital; where, the Supervising ER physicians; DID not understand; that, I was, IN FACT; undergoing a Cardiac Event and he speculated, that, I had "aortic dissection"... and did not 'treat me- for any CVD issues" with a simple administration of Heparin. I was without treatment-for over 18 hours [ with any meaningful medication" and that caused my Troponin-I to reach an astronomical level of 222.2. The CPK and CKMB were unbelievable and only my "strong genetic configuration" .. SAVED me.

That's why...the "pain under right scapula" was of greater concern to me.

Besides; my "excessive thirst" caused me to "send the inquiry".....

Now I am feeling better; without ANY medications.

Most "patients" do not understand; what I AM WRITING-to you but I have LEARNT a LOT about the Cardiac Issues; since then.

I trust you understand, the REASONS; for my RUSHING to make inquiry.

Brief Answer:
Greetings Sir

Detailed Answer:
Hello Sir. Welcome back to HCM. I carefully read your query.

Actually I did not go in details about the differential diagnosis and, as a cardiologist, I would be concerned if this pain would be between the scapulas, or in both scapulas. I understood that you are well-informed, in the original question. Therefore, I offered you my opinion as a thorough approach towards reassurance, as I had the exclusion diagnoses clear in my head. I offered you to have an ibuprofen since this pain is more like an acute or chronic inflammation of the locomotory properties in that area. It is even more reassuring that the pain went away with no medication at all. I would like to add that my opinion is that this kind of pain is not at all related or similar with the kind of pain you experienced back in 2004.

I hope this is helpful. Feel free to ask follow-up questions, as I am happy to help.

Best regards,
Dr. Meriton
