What Causes Severe Pain In Legs, Wrist, Shoulders And Calves?

default
Posted on Wed, 6 Apr 2016
Question: Yes. I have had recent lab work. My complaint is pain or very bad aching in my legs not relileved by rest or anything. Also feels like my bones hurt. Pain also in my wrists, shoulders at time-best explained as aching. Also calves, and some soft tissue soreness. I am taking vitamin D at this time. My RA test was within normal. I think fibromyalgia. Sorry I am a nurse for 35 years...I have this pain almost daily, today the pain level would be 8 on the scale. Any ideas. Nothing helps, Have had Ultram in past, did not help

Brief Answer:
Fibromyalgia

Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome

I appreciate your concern

Based on the history that you described, its most likely fibromyalgia. If the pain is severe then triamcinolone injection 80 mg intramuscular can be advised. Its a long acting steroid that would help provide adequate relief. For short term relief lornoxicam can be advised. Gabapentin, pregabalin, amitryptiline or duloxetine can be prescribed for long term control. You may discuss these options with your doctor.

A consultation with rheumatologist would also be a good idea.
ANA profile, Anti CCP antibody, CK, ESR and CRP levels should be done to gather the appropriate information.

Wishing you best of health

Thanks
