Question: hi, I had mesh sling bladder surgery back in 2009. recently I have had 3 UTI and I am experiencing severe pain in my abdomen ,, lower back, hip and upper thigh. I went to the Urologist today and he scheduled a renal ultrasound for 2/15 but the pain is so bad I am thinking of going to the ER.

Brief Answer:
You should go to the ER definitely as this is urgent !!!

Detailed Answer:
Warm Welcome. I appreciate your trust in HCM and assure you are on best portal on the globe for expert online medical services.

I have thoroughly reviewed health query you raised, and well realize all of those concerns. Being your physician, I will take care all of them today and will extend my expertise to solve the problems.

I feel sorry for the health issues you are having right now. It is awful situation when it comes to the bad genitourinary system infection and pains.

Recurrent UTIs need ultrasonic evaluation, no doubt, but this will be so delayed if you wait until FEB 15. You need urgent care and pain relief right away. If I was your treating physician I would have prescribed you with NITROFURANTOIN oral if not allergic to plus an over the counter painkiller like IBUPROFEN to be taken after meals.

Take plenty of fluids and Cranberry juice is best on urinary tract infections. Rest assured and you will get better soon.

You need to consult an ER right away as an urgent need of prescription antibiotics is inevitable. Ultrasound to rule out the pathology in kidney, ureter and bladder being the cause for recurrent infections can be carried out in ER.

No further delay is advisable as it'll only cause spread of bacteria in the blood stream ( Bacteraemia ) and also risk of Urosepsis , which is potentially fulminant condition. Please rush in to your nearest ER to get evaluated and treated accordingly.

Hope I addressed all the concerns you have. Let me know if you have further questions. I will be more than happy to clear any doubts. For any disease you have, a timely follow-up is necessary regarding the treatment efficacy and to see if there is a need to change treatment options. So keep a follow up to see how you doing (Always write down my name in start of your questions at this forum & I will be with you in no time).
