Question: Hi doc, I have very bad pain in between my buttocksfrom past 2 days. I have been applying face powder to keep it dry so that it doesn't pain when it rubs each other when walking or sitting. But I see a slight swelling and it really hurts while sitting or walking. Pls help

Brief Answer:
Furunculosis is most likely possibility

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Welcome to Healthcaremagic.com.
I have read your query.
I understand your concern.
As per details, the most likely possibility for your symptoms is a condition of skin called Furunculosis. It is bacterial infection of skin involving the hair follicle and surrounding areas.
Buttock area and surrounding skin are very prone for bacterial infection especially if proper hygiene of the anal area is not maintained.
In such cases, I prefer to advise topical antibiotic cream like mupirocin 2 percent over the affected area.
If severe, oral antibiotics are also given like combination of ampicillin and cloxacillin.
In condition of excess pain and swelling, anti inflammatory drugs like diclofenac also help.
Wash the area twice a day with soap and water.
Avoid rubbing and popping the area.
Visit your doctor so that he can examine you and give you prescription.
You can share my opinion with him.
I hope it helps.
Take care.
