What Causes Severe Pain And Tightness In Right Leg?

default
Posted on Mon, 28 Sep 2015
Question: My right leg has been extremely painful and tight for two days after riding in the car for 12 hours. I have had a laminectomy and have a history of leg cramping due to nerve pressure. Is this just a bad case from the long trip? The back of my knee really hurts. It did feel better when I did some light swimming today but tightened up within 15 minutes of sitting.

Brief Answer:
Related to the long travel

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for the query

This type of pain is often present after long journeys. Here is what you should do

1. Look for tenderness in the calf, tender calf signifies blood clotting
2. I recommend that you apply ice packs over tender areas. It will give immediate relief
3. Do not put pressure or bear weight over the right leg for 3-4 days. Avoid strenuous exercise
4. If the pain does not subside meet a doctor. You can take acetaminophen three times a day for 3 days for pain relief

I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me
