What Causes Severe Muscle Cramps In The Legs?

default
Posted on Thu, 5 Jan 2017
Question: At night when I try and go to sleep, I am awakened by severe pain in my legs. My muscles in my legs knot up and the pain is severe. It doesn't happen every night but sometimes goes on for a week or more. The only relief I am able to find is to try and walk for a long time. It hurt for awhile them dissipates. I do have two supplemental heart beat with the regular heart beat at each beat but I do not have heat trouble so the doctor's have reported. I used to have restless leg syndrome regularly up until about two years ago but now it is only occasionally. Also I need aa left knee replacement as it is bone on bone. I have a severely handicapped child 36 chronologically but 18months mentally. His head was crushed at birth. He neither speaks or is able to walk without my support. He has no language, etc. I don't know if I will be able to get to my email as Hotmail has been discontinued but I will certaintly try. My spouse left us after 40 year of marriage about six years ago so I am on my own.

Detailed Answer:
Hi there.

Thanks for the query.

I am sorry to hear of your struggles and I feel empathetic for you.

The cause for frequent camps in the legs is usually due to Electrolyte disturbances, dehydration, excess caffeine, colas, smoking and drinking alcohol.

Eat plenty of fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables. Drink plenty of water. Do daily walking exercise for 45 minutes. Apply hot packs to the affected region. Avoid coffee, tea, smoking, alcohol, colas.

Take Tablet Neurobion forte and Tablet L-Carnitine once a day for a month.

I hope things get better and you feel happier and content soon.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.
