Brief Answer:
NSAIDs, gabapentin or steroids

Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome

I appreciate your concern

Cortisone is basically a steroid injection. If the pain is moderate then NSAIDs can given such as diclofenac sodium injection intramuscular in an ER and then started on oral diclofenac along with muscle relaxants at home. If the pain is severe, gabapentin or repeat cortisone injection can be advised. Oral steroids can also be an option for a 2 week tapered course. A PPI should be given along these to prevent gastritis/ ulceration associated with NSAID use.

Wishing you best of health

Thanks
