What Causes Severe Itching In Lower Buttocks And Genital Area?

default
Posted on Mon, 3 Aug 2015
Question: I have been diagnosed with scabies, I was in Siri Lanka, and got a very strong itch between my buttcheeks and under my private area, when I returned home, the itching starter to move up to my beltline, which by then was diagnosed as scabies, I took what he prescribed.

No more red marks are showing up, but the itchyness has returned 10 times stronger now, but not on my belt line now it's around my anus and under my arm pits and under my beltline...

I'm scratching like crazy! What to do?

Brief Answer:
Add an Oral antihistamine e.g cetrizine tablet

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing back to us

I have also answered you previous query in which I suggested a possibility of Scabies.

What did you use for treating Scabies? and when? Did you apply a lotion?? If yes, was it applied to all of body and kept overnight as instructed?

Sometimes itching can last for a few days after treatment, post scabies and is due to hypersensitvity to dead mites.

I suggest that you take an oral antihistamine e.g cetrizine 10 mg tablet, once or twice daily for a few days.

Regards

How are you? Yes I remember, I actually did exactly as instructed, but more than once. As after I did it the first time, the red marks kept coming back as if I didn't do anything, after the second time which was 10 days ago. Nothing in the past days showed up, nothing at all. Not even itching, suddenly 2 days ago I got a strong urge to itch and slowly it started spreading causing the itch to be every where again. But no scabies marks, not pimples, just redness from where I scratch then it goes back to normal, and repeat. (Not at any specific time though)

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

I suggest you to take an Oral antihistamine e.g cetrizine 10 mg, once or twice daily for a few days. This could be a hypersensitivity to dead scabies mite.

Topically you can apply a soothing lotion e.g calamine lotion.

Regards
