What Causes Severe Headache Along With Nausea?

default
Posted on Fri, 26 Dec 2014
Question: Yesterday I awoke with an excruciating headache-like someone drilling screwdrivers in either side of my head in the front area. On a scale of 1-10, it was a 10. It went away after 2-3 minutes but left me with nausea and lingering minor ache all day. This has happened three or four times over the last year, but the duration has been much shorter. I am not diabetic and my overall health is good except for mild controlled Crohns

Brief Answer:
hi and welcome to hcm

Detailed Answer:
such symptoms may go with certain types of migraines and most commomly are self limiting and if it passes quickly then there is no reason to be worried. but if this was really such excruciating pain then it would be smart to do ct scan or mri to rule out some rare but serious brain diseases such as aneurisms or epilepsy. i dont think that it should be done urgently but try to get an apointment with neurologist and do these brain scans in future. if this happens again then you should see doctor right away. try to avoid lights, noisy places, smoking and alcohol and stress. you may have been exposed to certain vapors or chemicals night before sleeping. wish you good health. Regards
