What Causes Severe Abdominal Pain And Bloating?
Question: I have had bloating and some stomach pain intermittently for the last week but this has worsened the last two days. It is predominantly under the ribs and down the righthand side. I have taken parocetamol and Buscopan but still have a lot of discomfort. Since taking the Buscopan, my stools are very loose and a pale colour. I am 78 years old.

Already taking Amplodepin, Clopidogrel and simvastatin .
As per the history you have provided, the pain looks to be due to one of the following:
Gall bladder or liver disease
Costochondritis
I would advise you the following:
Clinical evaluation and examination by your Doctor, preferably a General Surgeon.
Tests of blood, urine and stool
Ultrasonography of abdomen.
Further tests as may be required.
All these tests will help to identify or rule out the probable cause and get treated accordingly.

As Drs are closed for the Bank holiday, can you suggest any thing I can do or take in the mean time. Is it alright to continue to take the Buscopan and paracetomol? Am I better to stay on liquids?

Plenty of oral fluids only.
Take Buscopan as and when necessary.
You can try Dicyclomin for the pain.
Staying on clear fluids helps in proper investigations and giving some rest to the bowel.
