What Causes Severe Abdominal Cramping And Back Pain In A Middle Aged Woman?

Posted on Tue, 14 Jun 2016
Question: Hello. I am a 49 year-old female who had a hysterectomy to remove my uterus and cervix 21 years ago. In the last several months, I would experience abdominal cramping that was similar to menstrual cramps and usually subsided within 48 hours. However, yesterday, more severe cramping began that has radiated to my back, again, much like those associated with menstruation. Is this common or is this associated with perimenopause and what can I do to alleviate this pain?

Brief Answer:
Ultrasound advised

Detailed Answer:
Hello Mam, thanks for trusting health care magic.
I would like to know if at all you have constipation or have had some outside food last day?
Mostly such a pain is seen in constipation patients.
Take drotavarine tablet and see the response and in case not relieved just let me know.
Even if the pain is relieved by tablet get an ultrasound done to see the origin of problem.
Take care

Yes, I have had some constipation and gas. My husband and I have eaten outside in the last two days. What could this be?

Brief Answer:
Common in patients with constipation

Detailed Answer:
It is common to have such issues in patients with constipation especially who take less of water and fibre in diet.
Just take lukewarm water 2 glasses tonight and 2 early morning just after waking up.
Take drotavarine now itself and see the relief in pain.
Also take light dinner with loads of salad and fruits.
You will feel much better in morning.
But in case pain is not relieved or reoccurs then get an ultrasound done too.
All the best.
