What Causes Scarring In The Lungs?
Question: HI...My pre employment chest x ray showed scar in the lungs...I also took a CT scan and the same too confirmed that the scar are seen...the scan report otherwise says there are no abnormalities found and gave a clean chit...what does this scar mean and are there any medication to treat the same...
Brief Answer:
You are having old,inactive,healed lesions.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your situation and problem.
Your CT report suggest old, healed, inactive lesions.
This is mostly due to previous infection like pneumonia or tuberculosis.
Any lung insult whether tuberculosis, pneumonia or Pulmonary contusions heal by fibrosis. And it appears as scar tissue on chest x ray.
These scars remain as it is through out the life.
Since they are inactive, no treatment is required.
Hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health. Thanks.

Thanks for the opinion...As you say this is permanent scar, is there any way to remove the same, as I am not allowed to get employment in Gulf countries due to Govt. Medical laws, if the scar is observed. Please advice...
Brief Answer:
These scar will remain as it is through out the life.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your concern.
Scar tissue is inactive tissue. It is not suggestive of active lesions. So no treatment is required.
In fact no treatment is needed or available to remove their scar tissue.
For visa purpose, you need to prove that these lesions are inactive and not infectious.
