What Causes Scabs On Penis When Diagnosed With Genital Herpes?

default
Posted on Tue, 24 Nov 2015
Question: Hello, about two weeks ago I noticed 2 small scabs on my penis (one on the shaft, the other on the head of my penis). The scabs were slightly slaller than a millimeter in diameter. I assumed they were from abrasion. The scab on the head of my penis disappeared completely after about a week. The scab on the shaft of my penis also appeared to be going away. However, starting two days ago, about fifteen tiny scabs (about the size of the tip of a ballpoint pen) appeared around the original area where the scab was on the shaft of my penis. These scabs seemingly appeared out of nowhere (no ulcers or red bumps). The scabs do not itch and are completely painless. I went into an urgent care center and the doctor immediately diagnosed me with herpes (looked for less than 5 seconds). I have been in an open relationship for the past year. I have unprotected sexual with my partner, but proper condom use has been employed with all other partners (3). While at the urgent care center, I had them conduct blood and urine tests (the results of which I have not yet received). Does this sound like herpes to you? I've been doing research online and my symptoms do not seem to align with most herpes cases (I have zero pain, no itchiness, and did not see any puss or ulcers). I am happy to provide a picture if that will be helpful.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Brief Answer:
Likely to be Herpes Lesion

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day

Dear Sir

Thanks for providing detailed history and clinical photograph , it really helps.
It could possibly be Herpes, herpes lesion can start as pin point lesion and later on ulcerate. Its very much likely to be Herpes if the lesion are painful. Pain out of proportion to the lesion is characteristic of herpes lesion. Exact diagnosis is possible by taking swab from the lesion.
