What Causes Runny Nose And Sneezing After Meeting A Swine Flu Patient?

default
Posted on Thu, 14 May 2015
Question: Hi, I'm a 25 year old man and recently came in contact with a friend who suffered from swine flu about a month ago. He has been treated well, was quarantined and joined work too. But since the next day of meeting him, I have started developing common cold symptoms like runny nose, nasal discharge, sneezing but I don't have fever or headache or any pain though. I took wikoryl tablet and the runny nose and sneezing problem went away but I have a partial blocked nose now and a bit of sore throat.

Do you think I should get a swine flu test done? Or is it okay to be home and drink plenty of fluids and stay isolated.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for using Healthcaremagic.

I went through your query and understood your concerns.

After treatment for swine flu, viral load comes down and spreading infection to others reduces. With complete treatment less chances of spreading infection to others.

With your description of symptoms its more of like common cold and symptoms are reducing.
Swine flu treatment should be taken if you get high grade fever with severe sore throat. testing is also not necessary.

Do salt warm water gargling and steam inhalation. Have plenty of water.

Hope I answered your query and feel free to ask further related query.

Wish you a good health.

Regards
