What Causes Right-sided Flank Pain?

default
Posted on Wed, 21 Dec 2016
Question: I have pain in right flank and back, thought it was a back issue at first, but am wondering if it could be kidney stones? no other symptoms at all, and I routinely drink 3 liters of water and other liquids per day.

Brief Answer:
May be related to the right kidney...

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query, albeit short and specific.
To recapitulate: Female/ 63 - pain started as back issue and now in right flank - wondering to be a kidney stone - no other symptoms - drinks 3 liters of water and liquids - applying heat - took Ibuprofen and Aspirin ...

With the short history you have provided, the pan is most probably related to the right kidney and this may be a stone or even other problems like hydronephrosis in which one gets fullness and pressure in the collecting system of the kidney.

X-ray and Ultrasonography helps a lot as also the tests of blood and urine.

I hope this answers your query, please feel free to ask for further relevant queries if you feel that there is a gap of communication.
