What Causes Right Sided Abdominal Pain Under The Ribs And Near Belly Button?

default
Posted on Wed, 21 May 2014
Question: Hi, sorry for my poor english. I'm a 34 years old guy. i have very often like a pain in the right side of my abdomen, under the ribs, near the belly button. Sometimes, the pain can transform to a back pain. It is not a severe pain. I did a blood test last week; everything was normal, except the sgpt (48) and the lymphocytes (41.90). I do sports often and sometimes the pain is there during exercise, sometimes not. When i'm in bed there's no pain at all.
In december, i got constipation and abdominal pain, a doctor did an echography and a colonoscopy and found nothing abnormal. He gave me some Librax and some Transipeg for a few months and then told me that everything was good. He told me to stop all the medicines. What do you think please.

Brief Answer:
Possibility of acid peptic disease

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day

Dear Sir,

I assume that you are referring to right Hypochondriac region as the site of pain.

I would suggest you the following possibility as possible explanation for cause of your symptoms

1.Acid Peptic Disease: The pain usually occurs during empty stomach and may be relieved after food. It could also be associated with retrosternal burning pain behind the chest.
2. Pancreatitis : This is more likely if there associated alcohol consumption. The pain in majority is continuous and may be associated with vomiting
3. Worm infestation: It typically produces colicky pain which is intermittent

I would suggest you the following empirical treatment , rmedies which are very simple and will require over the counter medication.
Do give me feed back about the improvement

1. Antacid : Combination of Pantoprozole ( acid suppressant ) and Domperidone will be helpful
2. Syrup Gelusil MPS 6 ml thrice a day will be beneficial
3. Antihelmenthic: Single dose of Tablet Albendazole 400 mg

I would also like to suggest following lifestyle modification which will go a long way in providing much needed relief
1. Regular intake of food
2. Avoid alcohol/carbonated beverages
3. Avoid spicy/oily food
4. High fiber diet: 2 servings of vegetable salad and two servings of fruits per day
5. Plenty of oral fluids: 2-3 liter of water per day.

I hope this will be helpful.

If there is no improvement you will require further investigation like Ultrasound abdomen and gastroscopy based on clinical examination.

Kindly keep me updated about the progress.
Do get back to me any time for any further assistance, will be glad to assist you.

Take Care
