default
Posted on Wed, 15 Apr 2015
Question: I have a red swelling on my right ankle that looks like blood has been pooling there, it's very itchy and bothers me the most at the end of the day. I don't take any medication, do have a Mirena IUD for adenomyosis. I am healthy and ideal weight. I do sit for over 8 hours due to my job.

Hi,
Thanks for choosing healthcaremagic for posting your query
I'm Dr. Sudhir Kumar,
I have gone through your question in detail including attached photograph and understand your concern. You may be suffering from ring worm. It is a common fungal infection of the skin and is not due to a worm. The medical term for ringworm is tinea.Ringworm causes a scaly, crusted rash that may appear as round, red patches on the skin.Other symptoms and signs of ringworm include patches of hair loss or scaling, itching, and blister-like lesions.
Ringworm can be successfully treated with anti fungal medications used either topically or orally. For reducing itching cetrizine can be used. You can visit a dermatologist for its treatment. You can discuss with your Doctor about it.
Hope I have answered your query.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
Wishing you good health
Take care
