Question: Hello doctor ,
This is xxxxxxxx I have just moved to xxx XXXXXXX and it's been three weeks before which I was in XXXXXXX XXXXXXX .. I have always battled dry lips for the past couple of years for which I applied Vaseline petroleum jelly and since that was too oily and I already have a very oily sensitive skin I switched to sebamed lip balm ... but still the dryness flakiness peeling prevails and some days it's fine some days it's horrible ... yesterday after having dinner I noticed two red spots on my inner right side of lower lips ... that are seems to be dry tight and the entire dice of the face feels flushed .... the heater is not on but still I get this episodes of flush ones in my face it comes and goes ... I have attached pics for your better understanding of what I am going through... I use hydrocortisone acetate cream as per doctors advise until now .... along with sebamed lip balm can I still continue it ? What are these spots no pain or irritation as such I even do not know whether this is as a result of my peeling my lips with teeth ,....

Brief Answer:
Continue with hydrocortisone cream

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at HealthcareMagic
I have gone through your complaints as well as reviewed the attached photographs.
The flushing on the face and dryness over the lips seem to be related to your sensitive skin as well as change in weather from hot humid weather of XXXXXXX to XXXXXXX
You can continue with hydrocortisone cream on the affected areas for few more days.
Along with use a moisturising lotion like cetaphil moisturising lotion on the face 2-3 times daily and continue with sebamed lip balm.
The red spots on the lips are also related to severe dryness and due to your biting the lips.
This will resolve in few days.
Regards
Dr Asmeet

Hello doctor ,

I have attached few pics of my left side lower lips first of all I wanted to know whether the size is normal or do you find any abnormal swelling kind of thing in my left side lower lip . Also the vermillion border of the lower lips if flaky and keeps flaking off what to do .
The hydrocortisone acetate cream that I have is three months old but the expiry date is till 2019 can I still use it I live in U.K. Where I can't get all the medicines as freely in XXXXXXX that's why I am asking . Also can you please suggest some toothpaste as I suffer from perioral dermatitis ... as of now I use sensodyne sometimes sometimes vicco vajradanti at times the lips becomes red I do not know whether it's because of that or anything else that's why this question

Brief Answer:
No swelling seen in lower lip, continue with hydrocortisone cream

Detailed Answer:
I have reviewed the newly attached photographs and can't appreciate any swelling in the lower lip.
It seems to be normal.
For flaky lips continue using hydrocortisone cream twice daily along with sebamed lip balm.
It can be used till the time it expires.
Redness of lips doesn't seem to be related to toothpaste.
You can continue with sensodyne and vicco vajradanti toothpaste.

Brief Answer:
Benzoyl peroxide gel for pimples

Detailed Answer:
I have reviewed the newly attached photographs.
You are having mild acne and it is common to have acne flare before menses.
I would recommend you to apply benzoyl peroxide 2.5 percent gel on the pimples twice daily.
Your itching on the nose and redness around the nose is due to your sensitive skin.
Use a cleanser like cetaphil cleansing lotion for sensitive skin for washing your face, apply cetaphil moisturising lotion 3-4 times in a day on the entire face and take antihistaminic like tablet Cetrizine 10 mg once daily at bedtime for few days.
For lip dryness use cream containing white soft paraffin 3-4 times in a day.
It will little greasy but help in your severe dry lips.

Brief Answer:
Use Hydrocortisone followed by sebamed immediately

Detailed Answer:
I have gone through your new complaints and it isn't related to herpes.
You can apply hydrocortisone cream on the affected areas of the lips twice daily followed by application of sebamed lip balm on the entire lips immediately.
You don't have to wipe it off.
You can use the same lip balm on the entire lips as you don't have herpes infection.
You have already taken blood tests which were negative and since they are confirmatory about herpes you don't have to worry about Herpetic infection.
You don't have to be petrified and can do all the normal things like kissing and sharing tumbler as you are herpes negative.
