What Causes Red Dots Under Skin On Breasts Spreading To Legs And Stomach?

Posted on Sat, 10 May 2014
Question: I had an infection in my foot from a blister and was given Keflex and Septra. I had headaches for 5 days and then on day 9 of the antibiotics started developing a rash. That night I had small pin prick and a little larger red dots under my skin on my breasts. The Dr. then put me on Predisone. I am on my 3rd day but these dots are spreading and are now on my legs and stomach. What is this and when will it go away. They do not itch and look like blood under the skin.

Brief Answer: Possible skin bleeding, further evaluation needed.. Detailed Answer: Hi, I have gone through your medical history and the uploaded photo carefully. Usually, such "red dots" on your skin are referred to skin agioma which usually starts appearing at the age of 30s. Gradually, by the passing of time, they increase in number. But, you are referring that such red dots are increasing in number from day to day. So, it might be a case for bleeding under your skin, most probably due to medications you are taking. Sometimes, Prednisone use is associated with thinning skin which can become easily bleeding. I suggest to consult with a dermatologist and to get some blood work (CBC, liver enzymes and coagulation tests). Hope it was of help! Let me know if I can assist you further! Dr.Albana
