Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXX,
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.
I am Dr.Ajay Panwar,a neurologist,here to answer your query.

Apparently, it your husband's headache issues, which you are referring to here.I would surely like to answer this well but I need to know some extra details beforehand-
1)Since when he is having these headache episodes?
2)What is the frequency-once a week,once a month --like that?
3)Is the headache unilateral(on one side of the head) or bilateral?
4)Is the headache associated with nausea, photophobia(headache increasing on exposure to bright light),phonophobia(headache increasing on exposure to sound) or vision problems?
5)Did he ever had fits or loss of consciousness? If yes, please tell detail.

I shall be glad to have you in follow-up with above details of the headache so that I can approach to the diagnosis well.

Regards

Brief Answer:
Tension type headache/Amitriptyline

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for being in follow-up and providing further details.

I have gone through the details of the symptoms as you have mentioned. After going through the clinical history,I am of the opinion that these headache episodes are probably related to stress and the diagnosis of 'Tension type headache'(TTH) is likely.MRI Brain coming back normal, further supports this opinion.

Another close differential could be migraine, but the classical features of migraine like photophobia, phonophobia, nausea and unilaterality are lacking.

For now,I suggest that he should be kept on standard treatment for TTH, which is amitriptyline and response should be observed for.
ALL MEDICINES SHOULD BE TAKEN UNDER A PHYSICIAN'S SUPERVISION.

Hope that I have answered your query. If you have some further questions,I shall be glad to have you in follow-up else please close the thread, rate it and write a review.

Regards
Dr.Ajay Panwar,
MD,DM(Neurology)
