What Causes Recurring Fever And Blisters In Throat Of A Child?

default
Posted on Tue, 9 Aug 2016
Question: Hello Doctor,

My daughter 4yrs old is having fever. She has blisters in her throat. We tried Crocin Liquid first but it was not helping for fever to come down. Our doctor suggested to give Meftal-P, if crocin doesn't help. Meftal-P helped but fever is coming again after 5-6 hrs. Since Friday night, fever is there.

This query is to have another opinion.
Can you please tell me if fever is coming because of blisters & what medicine can help to
remove blisters?

Brief Answer:
Gurgling with lukewarm water is the mainstay of treatment

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone through your query and understand your concerns. Such fevers often occur in children and since Meftal-P has a better efficay than Crocin (paracetamol), it should prove helpful. The fever may still come back from time to time and you have to repeat the dose (at a minimum interval of 6 hours).

The fever is not coming back due to the throat lesions. The best solution for the throat lesion is gurgling with lukewarm water. Betadine gurgle can also be given. Medicines will not be of much help and irrespective of treatment they should resolve in 3-5 days.

Regards
