Brief Answer:
Need thorough investigation and history

Detailed Answer:
Hi

You seem to have intractable hiccups. It not that common and are difficult to treat in an elderly. The physiology of the hiccup is large with a reflex XXXXXXX Any lesion in this XXXXXXX can lead to this.

Right now it is very difficult to pin point the exact reason for hiccup without good information. Right from heart disease, stroke, tumors and simple causes like GERD, some medications all can cause hiccup as it is just a gush of air into the airway. A lot of chronic medical conditions can cause them.

A doctor who has the convenience to examine you itself has a difficulty correctly diagnose the reason. However he can prescribe you certain medication like Baclofen, gabapentin that helps resolve the symptoms.

I am sorry I was unable to pin point the precise reason but you should head to a local doctor for actual medication to stop you from worrying, then they can investigate further.
