Brief Answer:
The blood report is suggestive of bacterial infection

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for the query

The current blood report with counts 17000 and CRP of 80 is suggestive of bacterial infection.

You have mentioned that for past 6 months he has been suffering from fever once in a month.

I request you to provide details like

How long this fever lasts each time?

What were the associated symptoms like cough/cold,loose stool, burning micturition ?

What was the diagnosis you were told about?

If there is any report done earlier please attach those.

What are the symptoms apart from fever he has this time?

If there is any weight loss in last 6 months?

Recurrent fever with cough and cold is common in this age. Most of the time it is viral in nature.
But leucocytosis (particularly neutrophilic) with raised CRP is more in favour of bacterial infection.

Macpod CV contains cephalosporin group with clavulinic acid and it has a very good coverage for organism causing respiratory, intestinal or urinary infection. So I would like to continue the same.

Please provide me detail so that I better able to help you out.

Regards

Brief Answer:
I agree with your doctor

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the follow up

As the report is suggestive of bacterial infection.I agree with your doctor and would like to give the antibiotic at least for 10 days and better for 14 days.A repeat test should be done at the completion of treatment to check whether the CRP has fallen to its normal range or not.
As there is similar history in the past I would like to get him evaluated for any enlarged tonsil causing recurrent tonsillitis.
If you have any further query I shall be glad to answer.

Brief Answer:
Children of parents suffering from asthma are at risk for developing asthma

Detailed Answer:
Welcome again

Genetic predisposition in asthma/allergic disorder is well known. The symptoms you have mentioned are suggestive of asthma/allergic disorder.Your doctor is right asthma is a disease which can be controlled with avoidance of allergens/precipitating factors and with titration of dosage.
The allergic symptoms when associated with breathing difficulty or chest tightness is asthma.Sometimes there can be running nose/sneezing only and that is allergic rhinitis not asthma.
With regular medication the symptoms can be controlled to a level at which you can say it is cured. Then the down stepping of dosage and medication is done and you may not need any medication at all.Although it is difficult but not impossible.
It is not an infection but genetic predisposition.
