default
Posted on Fri, 18 Jul 2014
Question: My cousin is 20 years old, she suffers from fever every two months from past 2 years. It starts with sore throat, then turns to severe cold and then falls sick with fever. She stays in a hostel for dental students in a XXXXXXX 2 place.
My question:
Is it common to get fever so frequently? What could be possible causes? If I have to take her to a doctor please refer one.

Brief Answer:
ENT specialist

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for your query.

No, recurrent fever and upper respiratory tract infection (URTI) must be evaluated in detail.

Most common cause for such recurrent URTI could be tonsillitis. Every time the infection may start as tonsillitis and progress to URTI if nor sufficiently treated.

She may need a throat swab culture test, which identified the offending bacteria to which a specific antibiotic can be placed and cured for al time.

Hope, I answered your query.

Wish you good health.
