Posted on Wed, 3 Aug 2016
Question: I have not seen him since the rectal bleeding has recurred. I have been using the following constipation medications: Bisacodyl 10mg suppositories h.s., Docusate 150 p.o, h.s., and intermittently Milk of Magnesia 1 to 2 ounces h.s. p.o. As you know constipation is very common in patients with Parkinsons disease because of impaired autonomic function.

Brief Answer:
Additional treatment for constipation as following...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concerns.

Having rectal bleeding, the most common cause include hemorrhoids. They are caused by chronic constipation.

The actual treatment you are taking is for constipation. Apart meds, dietary changes are also very important. Include more foods high in fiber such as kiwi, figs, green leaf, etc. Fiber supplements containing psyllium or prunes fiber can also be used for longer treatment.

Increase fluids intake especially water. Avoid dairy such as yogurt, cheese, etc.
It is also important to get regular bathroom visits each time you have the feeling; do not delay as this will make things worst.

If the bleeding will persist or you'll have no improvement, should see your doctor for further evaluations.

Let me know if you have further queries.
