Posted on Wed, 30 Aug 2017
Question: I developed amiodarone toxicity with a non-productive spasmodic cough. Discontinued the medicine XXXXXXX 5. Have been on Prednisone since then. Currently down to 30 mg. Cough is nearly gone but i have had a thin, weak, raspy voice for about 8 weeks now. I am a teacher and return to class August 29. I could not teach with the current state of my voice.

Brief Answer:
side effect

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome in HCM

I can understand your concern

As you explain the history it seems to be a side effect of amiodarone. You might have been developed laryngeal swelling. However steroids are the right treatment for it too.But you can add inhalers with steroids like Fluticazone twice for up to one month

If with the ttreatmentthe voice is not coming better than a laryngoscopy examination should be done to scree for other causes of your complaint.

I reccommend you to continue the current treatment and to monitor the situation.

If nothing changes than discuss with your doctor for the above.

Take care and regards
