What Causes Rashes All Over The Body When Diagnosed With Pneumonia?

Question: My son was diagnosed with pneumonia on Sunday night and put on zpack, his fever is presistant and yesterday he had a rash a varied parts of his body. Not sure if rash is from pneumonia or medicine. He is pretty miserable. He is 17.

I am sorry for your son's situation.

As you explain the history i think that the rash is due to lung infection. But no worries it will pass soon.

Regarding the treatment if the temperature after 24-48 hours does not drop amd the clinical picture is getting worse than better to change the treatment in Claritromycin twice orally and to monitor the situation.

But please discuss with his treating doctor for the above as this should be taken only on prescription
