Brief Answer:
Size of skin induration is important in 72 hours.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
In Mantoux test the reading is to be taken between 48 and 72 hours for a valid conclusion to be made.

The result is based on the skin induration which can be taken to be positive if it is more than 5 mm, 10 mm and 15 mm depending on the risk group you belong to.

If it has been declared as negative then there is no need to worry. In some patients a smaller rash may persist till 7 days after the test.

Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Regards,
Dr.Vivek
