What Causes Rapid Heart Beat?

Question: Thank you Doctor. My husband, 75 is experiencing rapid heart beat, 107. His blood pressure is 1105over 69, he takes blood pressure lowering medication. Is at the low end of his BMI, walks 5 miles most days is sweating slightly but was washing his car and came in to recheck his finals after racing heart before breakfast.

I am glad that he is fit and healthy and I appreciate he is on regular medication with hypertension and others well under control.

I would suggest you take a repeat reading when after taking rest, sitting calmly for about 5-10 minutes.
If he is still experiencing pounding heart beat I would do an ECG.
Does he have any other symptoms such as sweating, anxiety, heaviness of the chest, chest pain, shoulder pain, dizziness, abdominal pain?
Is he tired?
