default
Posted on Thu, 12 Feb 2015
Question: I have two lumps in the same vein on the left side of my neck. I can, feel the vein (artery) protrude and the two lumps; when, I couph. Don't tell me not to cough. lol Should this be of a concern? I'm worried it could lead to an aneurism or a stroke.

Brief Answer:
Get a Neck Ultasound (USG) with a Doppler study done.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. You should get a Neck Ultrasound (USG) with a Neck Blood Vessel Doppler Study done to check the blood flow in the blood vessels of the neck.

2. There will normally be an impulse in the veins on coughing, but you should not be feeling lumps.

3. These test will also reveal if you are feeling any superficial or deep blood vessels, any lymph nodes related to them or any other structure from the neck and if this requires treatment. It is alo possible that these lumps are under the vein/artery and are pushing the blood vessel out from below, making it prominent.

4. Upload the test results here for further treatment options.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.
