What Causes Profuse Night Sweats In A Diabetic?

default
Posted on Tue, 21 Feb 2017
Question: I am going to the doctor today, I have night sweats really bad, I have to sleep in a cold room with a fan. Night sweat has been going on for 1 year. I was trying to do this without meds but I am miserable. I am 58 and I am diabetic type 2 and I am managing my weight but menopause is getting to me. I was thinking about asking for an antidepressent Venlafaxine hcl because someone told me it helps tremendously. HELP.

Brief Answer:
Pristiq could be a better option

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.

I read your query and understand your concerns.

Regarding the post menopausal symptoms pristiq scores highest followed by effexor. This is because the dosing schedule is mush easier with pristiq in compare to effexor. In addition the effexor needs titration which is often not required when it comes to pristiq. Thirdly the side effects are relatively less with pristiq in compare to effexor.

I must acknowledge that regarding the effects both medications are similar in regard to overall effect and time required to act including side effects.

I hope this answers you.
If you have more questions feel free to write back to me.
Thanks and regards.
