What Causes Pins And Needles Sensation In Legs And Arms?
Question: My daughter 9 has complained about pins and needles for quite a long time, since maybe 3 or 4 years old. Will wake up at night, leg or arm is experiencing the pins and needles. Sometimes occurs in leg while sitting. Is this anything to be concerned about?

Scary things like multiple sclerosis gives muscles weakness more than pins and needles here and there.
Your daughter symptom is most likely caused by nerve compression. This usually happens after long sitting or sitting with something compressing the legs. It can also be present when lying on the limb (I`m pretty sure You have also experienced such feeling in your life when after sleeping on one arm you have been awakened with pins and needles in it). This symptoms should disappear after removing the compression source (it usually lasts for a half of minute).
So this really does not sound like something concerning. However if you find this disturbing you, for her safety you may consult neurologist.
