Posted on Mon, 15 Jun 2015
Question: yes. I just changed my sons diaper and i noticed what appear to be pimples around his anus. What could this be? He is well cared for and bathes daily, and i am careful to wipe completely during changes.

Brief Answer:
95% cases absolutely nothing to worry about and self-resolving

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. In majority of cases, it is either a diaper rash or a small harmless cyst which is nothing to worry about and will settle on its own.

On very rare occasions, depending on a physical examination can we actually find minor infections that may require some amount of medical attention. But even in these cases the paediatrician mostly just asks the presentation to be left alone to self resolve. So, I would really not worry about this, and just continue to care for him the way you are and you shall watch them self resolve.

Just bring it up with his doctor during the next consultation, just so his paediatrician is always informed about any developments. I hope you find my response helpful. Please do not hesitate to write back to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.
