What Causes Persistent Sores On The Waist?

default
Posted on Fri, 30 Dec 2016
Question: I have round sores, on the top side, above wrist area. I have had them for almost 3months and they will not heal. There was a small piece of skin and I pulled it off. That skin piece came off in a perfect round circle. I am starting to worry as I have RA, osteoarthritis and fibromyalgia. I take meds and my immune system is shot. Nothing is helping. As of a week ago, I have severe pain in my legs. Knee and ankle pop if I move a certain way. If I sit or lay for a few minutes, I can hardly move my legs for a bit. Pain very intense so could the sores possibly give me an infection? A
I have cancer in both sides of parents and grand parents.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for posting the question.

I have gone through your medical history and the attached photograph.

The sores seem to be due to exacerbation of RA and fibromyalgia.Flaring up of these conditions often causes such lesions.Infact, the pain in legs ,knee and ankles may also be due to the same reason.

Other possibility is of a raised blood sugar or uric acid levels.

If the sores are not healing for 3 months now,you need to get you blood checked for the following tests-

1.Complete blood count
2.Blood sugar levels
3.serum uric acid
4.RA test
5.C-reactive proteins

Please let me know when these test reports are ready.

Till then you can apply mupirocin local cream to accelerate the healing process.
Do not apply anything hot to or over the surrounding skin of the lesions.

Taking multivitamin and anti-oxidant tablets will help.

I hope the answer was useful.

Thank you.

Kind regards.
