Question: I was diagnosed for grade II BHP prostrate with symptoms of fullness in the bladder,un controlable urge to urinate with burning sensation two years back & was prescribed zanocin OD 400mg & cap roliflo OD 4mg for 6 weeks and then thereafter re examination was aked to continue the same for 6 weeks .After this Zenocin OD 400 mg was stopped but roliflo OD 4 mg continued. I felt better with the medicine and continued for almost 10 months. After that I consulted another doctor as the problem re-occured and after some examination & uriflo metric test medicine was prescribed was Tab solitral , Tab drotin - M (SOS) tab puridium for 5 days. I felt better for few months but the problem returned. I then showed to my GP and the Only medicine Urimax-D was prescribed. I was fine for a while with it but the problem has re-occuured. During the day at work I do not seem to have a problem put at times the prostate area pains and while urinating it burns. This is once in a while. The flow of the urine at times is good but at times I have to stress to urinate. The problem is more severe at night and at times I get up 7 to 8 times to urinate. I have to put in lot of pressure to urinate at night that disturbs my sleep and am able to sleep around 3 -4 am in the morning. Burning sensation and feeling of not completely empty bladder persists.
Please advise.

Brief answer....it appears to be a time for surgery now
Detailed answer...
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
I have read your query and understand your concern.
The usual treatment of BPH is generally lifestyle measures like avoiding any liquid 2 hours before going to bed, avoiding alcohol and caffeine and doing regular exercises, medications and surgery.
Surgery is opted once your lifestyle changes and medications fail.
You are taking URIMAX D for your BPH which is a combination of tamsulosin ( an alpha blocker which helps in relaxation of muscles of bladder) and dutasteride (  This reduces the size of prostate ).This combination is the best to take care of your prostate symptoms but it has a limit and it stops working for you after a use of few months to few years.
Since medications are prooving to be ineffective and your symptoms are deteriorating,it is best for you to consult the surgeon and plan for surgery .
Only surgery would improve your symptoms now. There are different types of surgical methods which can be opted and these can be discussed with your treating doctor.
I hope it helps, however you are most welcome to revert to me for any further query.
Best of luck
Thanks

Thank you doctor for your feed back.....I have been taking URIMAX D for just about 1 month & some days I feel absolutely normal and at times the symptoms appear & like I said more during night. Is URIMAX D the ultimate medication before surgery ? Could you advise me the time to undertake my normal work at office post surgery so that I am able to pre-pace my work schedule.

regards

Hello,
Yes URIMAX D is the ultimate medicine which can be taken before one decides for surgery.
A period of appox 2 weeks should be enough to resume office work after TURP
The best is to consult a urologist and then have a detailed discussion with him.
Thanks
