What Causes Persistent Pain In Chest, Nipples And Swollen Ribs?

default
Posted on Mon, 22 Aug 2016
Question: Dear Doctor,
For the last 2~3 days I am feeling continuous mild pain at 2 location on my chest -
1) Centre of my chest, in between the nipples on little left side, may be 1 cm left side from the center.
2) Little down of the left side where the ribs end. Skin seems swollen (Not sure)just below the left side bottom rib. picture attached for better explanation. But this swollen was earlier also w/o pain.Pain started for the last 2~3 days
Not sure what is the cause of this pain. Not sure if it is external pain (On Ribs) or internal pain but there is no external injury.
Pain at both location is quite disturbing.
Pl advice.

Brief Answer:
Probably muscular pain / Get examined & investigated

Detailed Answer:
Hi friend
Welcome to Health Care Magic

Your symptoms do not suggest Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) – pain from the heart is oppressing, in central chest (and left), worse on effort, relieved by rest, may radiate to shoulders and arms, associated with sweating and so on. However, it is better to have a Treadmill Exercise Electrocardiogram (TMT). If it is normal, nothing to do – except to repeat after an year or two.
An upper GI endoscopy (‘Gastroscopy’) can exclude issues of the oesophagus (food pipe) and stomach.

It sounds very much like muscle pain – sprain from posture or movements. Over The Counter (OTC) Non-Steroidal Anti Inflammatory Drug (NSAID) like Ibuprofen can help / Muscle relaxants help – the treating doctor can give appropriate prescription?

Appropriate treatment demands accurate diagnosis
Diagnosis demands examination; probably investigation too
GET EXAMINED

Good luck
God bless you
