What Causes Persistent Mid Back Pain On Lower Left Side Of The Back?

default
Posted on Mon, 18 Apr 2016
Question: I have been having mid back pain for about two months on my lower middle left side of my back. My physical therapist said it is from prolonged bad posture at work( i sit in a desk for about 6-8 hours a day) I also believe I hurt it further from kickboxing the twisting and turning. I am an active non smoker. the pain is not constant and not severe but I dont want the pain at all. My question is how long is the rehab from something like this? can this pain be caused from something internal?

Brief Answer:
Further evaluation needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

Back pain initially is treated with rest, painkillers and physical therapy.

If these measures fail to improve it after one month, there is need for further examinations, especially imaging studies of your lumbar vertebral column, in order to diagnose the correct cause.

Imaging studies include x-rays of vertebral column to evaluate any instability, bone degenerative changes, and MRI to evaluate any neural structure(s) compression (herniated disc disease, spinal cord stenosis, inflammation etc.)

These issues should be discussed with your primary care Doctor.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Greetings.

Yes thank you I have been going to physical therapy for 5 treatments so far about two and a half weeks. So I should give it another two weeks to heal through physical therapy?
