Brief Answer:
Probably a simple UTI resulting from exposure to intestinal bacteria

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. The anal region and the insides of the intestines have normal bacteria which is considered good bacteria, which if place on the genitals is not considered good.

So the bacteria that your penis was exposed to during the anal intercourse may have resulted in the onset of an infection, which would be diagnosed as a simple urinary tract infection (UTI), nothing serious to worry about.

Although I would recommend taking antibiotics after a doctor has examined you and prescribed them on his/her own, it is your choice to do so; but antibiotics will most probably be required.

I hope you find my response helpful and informative. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.

Brief Answer:
Recommend a urine culture and sensitivity examination sir

Detailed Answer:
Hello once again sir.

It depends on the infection-causing organism; some infections are sensitive to cipro and will clear up when it is used, whereas some will be resistant and thus will not respond to cipro at all.

So, I would recommend a urine culture and sensitivity examination which will provide us with the following information:

1. Confirmation of an infection
2. Name of the infection causing organism
3. List of antibiotics which can be used to treat the infection

Your partner was probably not exposed to a sufficient amount of the infection causing organism for her to develop the infection from having vaginal intercourse with you. I hope this helps sir.

Best wishes.

The doc said I culd have herpes but how is that if I've never had anything like this before or my gf ? We've been together for 6 years with no outbreaks of any kind

Brief Answer:
Herpes could have stayed asymptomatic for some time, but needs confirming

Detailed Answer:
Hello once again sir.

Herpes can stay asymptomatic for a long time after the initial outbreak, which is when it will not be transmittable either. How you got it will take time to figure out, but in such cases on you yourself will be able to find out how depending on whether you shared someones underwear, received oral sex, genital rubbing, hand job, fondling of your genitals by someone else, mother-to-child transmission, etc.

I hope this helps sir.

Best wishes.

Brief Answer:
The rash for herpes is quite easily distinguishable from other rashes sir

Detailed Answer:
Hello once again sir.

Herpes has a typical presentation, which can be identified easily by a physical examination, so very rarely can it be misdiagnosed after a physical examination.

Herpes can stay asymptomatic for years on sir, it is possible.

There are 2 types of testing parameters, IgG and IgM. IgM looks for an acute outbreak, and if it is negative it does not rule out herpes. Whereas, IgG can detect a previously attained infection as well; check with her about which tests she got done sir.

Yes, they should sir.

It is most likely that she should also have gotten it, especially if you had such sores in the past and had intercourse with her.

Best wishes.

Brief Answer:
Do you mind sharing clear images of the region for my input

Detailed Answer:
Hi sir.

Yes, fungal/yeast infections are common after anal sex, and so is a UTI. If none of you ever experienced any rashes or sores on the genitalia before, herpes does seem unlikely.

Fungal/yeast infections do cause rashes sir, but as explained earlier, the rash will be totally different from a herpes rash. Did a doctor look at your sores? Do you mind sharing clear images of the sores on our discussion here? You can either attach it to our discussion or email it to me at:

YYYY@YYYY

with "ATTN: Dr. Shoaib Khan" mentioned in the subject line, so I can view the sores and provide my input on it.

If this is herpes, and you both have been intimate for years together now, and have always been faithful to each other, then she should have it. But if it is anything but an STD, then she will not have it.

Best wishes.
