default
Posted on Tue, 29 Apr 2014
Question: Hello, i got this pain in my upper oesophage near to the trhoat on the right side. I noticed it 2 days ago and it came an went, but now i ve been having it for 3 hours and it s pretty strong, feels like a needle or more like a small nerve is pinched. i underwent endoscopy for hiatal hernia 1 year ago and the feeling i got right now is verry similar to the one i felt when my doctor was taking some biopsy inside stomach and oesophage. Kind of got some kind of cold/weird sensation around it(hard to Describe) Any idea what this could be?? btw i do have small hiatal hernia and also went to chiropractor few days ago soo i m guessing one of the two might have something to do with it... Thanks for any input you might have , regards. XXXXXXX

Brief Answer: Detailed below. Detailed Answer: Hello! Thank you for the query. If this strange pain/sensation is in the esophagus, you should be able to feel some change when swallowing water for example. Such symptoms can be caused by esophagus inflammation due to acid reflux disease. As you have hiatal hernia diagnosed, esophagus inflammation should be the first thing to be checked. Throat inflammation, salivary glands inflammation or even stones can also give such symptoms. In such case, the pain should get much more intense when swallowing. I suggest you to visit your doctor. Throat should be carefully examined at first. If no inflammation will be present, you should consult gastrologist and have gastroscopy done once again. Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions. Regards.
