What Causes Pain In The Buttocks Caused By A Muscle Strain?

default
Posted on Mon, 14 Nov 2016
Question: I pulled a muscle in the high back of my right leg. The pain is across my Butex and makes it difficult to sit without pain on the right cheek. This has also been a slow progressive process/deterioration, in spite of a very regular exercise routine.
also I had a left knee replacement two years age with no complecations, but a sense that some aspect of that leg (strength/length) has exsasserbated the condition above.

Just looking to identify what the muscle problem area issue might be ?

Brief Answer:
Possible muscle or nerve strain

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for using HCM to post your health query.
I read carefully your question and I understand your concern.

In the high back of the high leg it can be only 2 options, either muscular or a nerve. There are lots of muscles and nerves there. The treatment it is the same for both conditions.
These are my recommendations. Maybe you are already doing some of it, so I hope will be helpful.
-- Take a pain killer regularly. Naproxen 550mg twice/day or Ibuprofen 400 mg 3 times/day. Take it regularely for 2 weeks because it will lower the inflamation except the pain.
-- Use a local analgesic to massage the area. It will enhance the effect without added side effects.
-- Don't overuse your leg for these 2 weeks. Do stretching exercises. Stop walking if it hurts and take time to rest.
-- If not better, if starting to feel weak, then consider physical therapy.

If worse or not better, I would recommend seeing a local doctor.

Hope this is helpful.
