What Causes Pain In The Anus Post An Ileostomy?
Question: I have been connected after a ostomy for 13 months. I have bee using imodioum daily twice and sometimes three times ,( 2 in morning and one at lunch).Before bedtime I take a tablespoon in a 8 oz water of metamusil.
My situation is that I visit the toilet in the day maybe 5 times and in the evenings more than 10 , I feel I get empty,and is painful in my anus .
I am thinking of increasing the dosis of imodioum
Would like your opinion and if any suggestion to viist less the toilet.

I am so sorry to hear about this repeated watery stools. I will make the following recommendations.
1. Imodium can be used up to 8tablets daily(16mg). A tablet is advised after each watery stool. I will suggest that you increase after watery stools without exceeding 8tablets daily.
2. Metamucil is actually a laxative. It seems unwise to use this while you have diarrhea. This is probably why the diarrhea is most pronounced at night. I will like that you ask your doctor about discontinuing metamucil while you have watery stools.
